Reflected Spying

“I see it! They were spying on us! The mirror, it’s watching us!” - A terrified commoner after using a Reflected Spying spell scroll

4th Level Divination

Classes: Wizard, Sorcerer, Warlock
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 300 feet
Components: V, S, M (a beholder’s eye stalk worth 100 gp)
Duration: Concentration, up to 10 minutes

Description:

You attune your magical senses to nearby surveillance points, such as scrying mirrors, crystal balls, or enchanted wards, within range. Select a magical surveillance object or ward you are aware of or can see. Make an Arcana check against a DC equal to 10 + the creator’s spellcasting modifier (if applicable). On a success, you gain access to the surveillance point, allowing you to view and hear as if you were the operator of the device.

While controlling the surveillance point, you can:

  • See and hear through its magical vision.
  • Shift the perspective or focus, depending on the device’s inherent capabilities.

If the Arcana check fails, the targeted surveillance point may alert its owner or trigger a warded response (DM’s discretion). Once the spell ends, any connection to the device is severed.

At Higher Levels:

When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the range increases by 100 feet per spell level. Additionally, you gain advantage on the Arcana check to hijack the device. If the hijacking is detected, you can attempt to mask your intrusion with another Arcana check as a reaction.
