Spellbound Mark
“What? Did you expect your trusty ring of invisibility to keep you hidden from me? I’m afraid I have a special connection to it, dear friend. I’ve seen everything you’ve done, all the secrets you’ve kept. And now, it’s time to pay the price for your treachery.” - Vivienne, the high enchantress of Eldorwyn
5rd Level Enchantment
Classes: Wizard, Warlock
Casting Time: 1 hour
Range: Touch
Components: V, S, M (a shard of obsidian and a drop of the caster’s blood)
Duration: Concentration, up to 10 minutes
Description:
You imbue a magical object with a hidden enchantment, creating a mystical mark that links the object to you. Once the spell is completed, you can perceive the object’s surroundings as if you were present within 30 feet of it, gaining access to sight and hearing. You are also aware of the object’s location as long as it remains on the same plane of existence.
While the mark remains undetected, you may:
- Use the object as if it were in your possession, provided it is capable of activating magical effects (e.g., wands or staves).
- Move the object if it is being carried or worn by a creature.
- Channel spells through the object, using it as the point of origin for your spells.
If the object is destroyed, the link is violently severed, and you take 1d10 psychic damage. The mark enchantment can be detected with a successful Arcana check against your spell save DC. Once detected, it can be removed through purifying effects such as dispel magic, remove curse, or similar means.
At Higher Levels:
When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, you can maintain Concentration on it for up to 1 hour. If you use a level 6+ spell slot, the spell doesn’t require Concentration, and the duration becomes 8 hours (level 6-7) or 24 hours (level 8 slot). If you use a level 9 spell slot, the spell lasts until dispelled.
